14K Rose Gold is 58.33% 24K Gold, which is alloyed with Copper to influence the color (Pink, Rose or Peach).
18K Rose Gold is 75% 24K Gold and alloyed with Copper. 18K Rose Gold is more yellow than 14K, because of the higher content of 24K Pure Gold.
It has only been in the last couple of years that a few 14K Rose Gold Findings and chains have become availble.
14K and 18K Rose Gold is more expensive than 14K and 18K Yellow Gold because it is a special order, therefore it takes a couple days longer to be shipped.
Rose Gold is also trickier to solder. It is being used by more jewelers in the last few years. 10 years ago my first ring was fabricated out of 14K Rose Gold Sheet with Steel stamps used to make a "One of a Kind" design in the metal.
Rose Gold is harder than Yellow Gold, therefore it wears longer.
18K and 22K Yellow Golds are soft and scratch easier as does Sterling Silver. Fine Silver is not recommended for jewelry items that receive a lot of wear, such as rings, as it bends and scratches easily. |
